What We Expect of You

Project Description:

We are seeking an experienced Mainframe Developer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in COBOL, CICS, and DB2 development, with hands-on experience using Horizont software tools such as XINFO, Procman, IWS WebAdmin, and SmartJCL. Proficiency in German at a B2 level or higher is essential for effective communication within our multilingual team and for documentation purposes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain mainframe applications using COBOL, CICS, and DB2.
• Utilize Horizont tools (XINFO, Procman, IWS WebAdmin, SmartJCL) for job scheduling, workload automation, and quality assurance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, design solutions, and support project delivery.
• Troubleshoot and resolve application issues, performance bottlenecks, and system outages.
• Participate in code reviews and adhere to best practices for mainframe development and documentation.
• Communicate effectively with German-speaking stakeholders and produce technical documentation in German as required.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a Mainframe Developer working with COBOL, CICS, and DB2.
• Practical experience with Horizont tools: XINFO, Procman, IWS WebAdmin, and SmartJCL.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and within a team.
• German language proficiency at B2 level or above is required.
• Experience in Agile environments is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Familiarity with mainframe modernization practices or integration with distributed systems.
• Experience with JCL and other legacy job control environments.
• Knowledge of ITIL processes or similar service management frameworks.
